The Hawks are delighted to announce the appointment of new Head Coach, Ben Williams.

Ben Williams is a professional cricket coach and has recently relocated from New Zealand to Melbourne. He delivers innovative and personable coaching techniques and training methods to a worldwide following via the YouTube channel Ben Williams – My Cricket Coach. Creating regular videos based on audience requests and Ben’s coaching creativity have tapped into the demand for quality online cricket coaching and is changing the way that players, coaches and parents have traditionally approached coaching. Ben has run a successful cricket academy (BWCA) for the last 13 years catering for youth players through to international representatives.

As well as coaching individuals at his academy, Ben has coached numerous representative sides through to regional and national titles. Ben’s speciality is assisting players to bridge the gap between training and match situations, allowing his teams to flourish in high pressure situations.

Ben has coached Premier Men’s club sides in the Northern Districts Competition in NZ to winning titles on 3 separate occasions as well as a district representative (Bay of Plenty) side to a national title – the first time for 36 years. In 2017 Ben coached a school boy 1st X1 team at St Kentigern College in New Zealand to a provincial title followed by finishing an agonising 2nd place at the national tournament.

Last season Ben coached an Auckland premier men’s side (Howick Pakuranga CC) to their first 2 day championship title in 27 years. It was Ben’s first year of coaching at the club and was awarded the Auckland Cricket Association’s Coach of the Year.

Ben has delivered specialist coaching initiatives for Rahul Dravid at his cricket academy SIX in Bangalore, India and ran an International Academy programme at his New Zealand based academy from 2011-2015, including relationships with Cricket Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands and Gloustershire County CB who would send members of their U19 sides out for 6 month coaching stints.

Kane Williamson “Ben has extensive knowledge, important for every cricket player wanting to improve their game.”

Trent Boult “With Ben’s experience with fast bowling and cricket in general he’s had a massive input on my career to date.”
