Hawks enlist the help of a former International great.
The Kingston Hawthorn Cricket Club is pleased to announce the appointment of former Sri Lankan superstar Asanka Gurusinha who will take up the role as the Hawks Batting Coach.
Asanka’s records speak for themselves, having played 41 test matches amassing 2452 runs at an average of 38.9 and 147 ODI’s for 3902 runs and an average of 28.3.
He has achieved 7 Test and 2 ODI centuries and 8 Test and 22 ODI fifties. As a wicket keeper he has 82 catches across both forms of the game.
He was also a useful part-time bowler, with Michael Atherton, Sunil Gavaskar, Dean Jones, Steve Waugh and Inzamam-ul-Haq among his 20 Test wickets.
He is a Level 3 certified Cricket Coach, and was previously the Consultant Regional Cricket Coach for Cricket Australia.
In 2017 he was appointed the Cricket Manager for the National Team of Sri Lanka and also a selector following his resignation as Manager.
He is well credentialled and has developed and fostered cricket talent across the globe.
Asanka is no stranger to Premier cricket in Melbourne having played with North Melbourne back in late 1980’s when not required for Sri Lankan duties.
