Hi, as the new Head Coach I wanted to welcome all players new and old to Season 23/24, and mention my thoughts and wants for the season as Head Coach.

So what am I looking for from you as players both individually and as a team.

e.g. PRACTICE leads to IMPROVEMENT, IMPROVEMENT leads to trying to ACHIEVE

I want players who have ambition to go further in the game, to do that you need to perform and to do what you need to train hard to make the most of your talent.

As a Coach I am ambitious and believe ambition is a good thing both as Coach and as a Team. It makes a team have passion, heart, drive, a good work ethic, a will to win, a never say die attitude, and a belonging that you want your team mates and yourself to achieve those ambitions as one.

I have been lucky enough to coach Eoin Morgan, Paul Stirling and Sam Curran, and played against
AB de Villiers. All these players have the qualities mentioned above.

I would like to add a few Hawks players to that list in the future, work hard and show the world your talent and play and train with Determination, Commitment, and a Team First attitude.

I hope to be out in Melbourne taking training sessions as soon as possible. Until then train hard at your fitness, remember the higher you want to go in this game, the fitter you have to be! There are no short cuts and if you want it badly enough, you will train hard enough, personal responsibility!

Good luck to everyone for the season

Best Wishes
Colin – Head Coach Kingston Hawthorn
